Recent Engagements

I have been on the road traveling the country for Comedy, TV, Professional Speaking and Hosting for the past few months. I have been posting photos and updates on my website and I wanted to share with you where I have been in the last couple weeks.  I had the pleasure of visiting North Nova Education Centre and Northumberland Regional High School, speaking to students about Diversity, Inclusion with the world theme of “Born This Way”.  Speaking to High School students is very important to me, definitely one of my high lights each year.  North Nova Education Centre was so welcoming, I have to show you some great pictures we took while visiting.  Much love greeted me as I entered the front doors, and I was well looked after by everyone, Thank you.

News update for Candy Palmater/ The Candy Show

Good Monday Morning,

This will be the first Monday that we have not posted “Its Just Another Mani Monday”, sorry to you for missing one Monday.  We have a lot of great exciting news though, and for now we are only allowed to share some of the great news.  Candy Palmater has officially resigned from her day job as the Director of Mi’Kmaq Liason Office in the Department of Education, to 100% concentrate and peruse her Entertainment business.  Candy has been traveling the country extensively with her Stand Up Comedy and with her Keynote speech and Hosting talent. Candy will now be able to give all her time and attention to her love and her business that includes: National TV Show “The Candy Show”, Comedy , Writing, Hosting,  Keynote speeches and more up coming projects….. like a Book!  yes, finally, Candy will be able to work on the big book that many people, friends, family and fans have been asking for.

Candy has a special and unique talent, I try to be unbiased, however the truth is the truth. Candy’s ability to reach out to young people, especially aboriginal/ First nation Youth is astounding.  The results of Motivating, Inspiring and helping young people to believe in themselves and to  persevere with their struggles, and conquering fears made Candy realize her own life journey.  To Book Candy please click HERE

It Gets Better Campaign

Candy speaks out , don;t check out. It Gets Better Video

Candy travels the country visiting schools, first nation communities and events speaking on many topics, but the one that hits her the hardest is anti-bullying and suicide. As a Gay, Native, woman she understands the struggles. Candy shares her stories with the young people and how she still has her struggles today, but she remains triumphant. Candy has achieved much success in life by following her dreams, by allowing those who support her to be around her, true friends, family and positive supporters.  It is not easy, heck, life is not suppose to be easy, life is about making choices that you want, not what others want for you, or try to make you do.  This is your life to live, have fun, dream big, and surround yourself with other people with similar wants and goals. Life is wonderful, don;t leave the world early. Live.  Watch Video

To quote one of my favorite lines in one of my favorite movies, Storm of the Century ( book/ story written by Stephen King), the line is “Pushers get pushed Donnie Beals, Pushers get pushed”, is a line I use often.  Donnie Beals is the son of the small town’s mayor, and little Donnie, like his father, likes to bully and control those around him.  You will have to read the book or watch the movie for this moment, as the entire story is not about the Beals, but something more grand, that involves the town’s people. Which in turn makes even the top town bullies cower…..

I wanted to blog today, as Candy is Hosting/ speaking at a 3 day Aboriginal Youth Conference in Ontario, called ” Dream Walkers gathering” which is a motivational event for Aboriginal youth to stay in school, put on by  the Niagara Peninsula Aboriginal area Management Board.  The problem of youth suicide is astounding, we all have a big part to play in helping to put an end to the bullies that push the victims to death. I feel this is murder, but call it what it is, this epidemic must stop.

Its Just Another Mani Monday

Good Monday everyone.

I am getting packed to fly to Ontario today.  I have a week long gig and I wanted to have something fun and dazzling on my nails for my travels. This look is Revlon Moon Candy in Galactic.  After I applied lacquer, it did not look how I envisioned it would be until I applied the Top Coat.  Then it worked out well.  Without a top coat this polish is rough and looks like an old manicure on the nails. Top Coat is a must to make this polish look good.

Speaking and Hosting Gigs next week

Canada’s only Gay, First nation, National TV personality will be speaking to Aboriginal students next week, as well as Halifax’s Gay community NSRAP Gala night.  Candy is one of kind, she wears a few hats: National TV Host, Comedian and Keynote Speaker.  Candy travels to high schools all around the Eastern Provinces ( right now), delivering powerful messages to students, educators, Principals alike with a message.  The results are incredible, we receive messages every day from students, parents of students and educators showing gratitude for Candy providing the necessary motivation and inspiration the students and those who teach, what they needed to move forward to stay in school and for the teachers, the power to help keep students in class.  Candy’s powerful message has helped bullies from a high school she spoke to, to “turn themselves in” to the Principal!   Incredible results.  To have Candy speak to your school click here Bookings
